Principal's message

Welcome to Sutherland Hospital School. It is my privilege to lead a dedicated team committed to supporting students during their time in hospital.

As a hospital-based school, we work closely with families, medical staff and home schools to support student wellbeing and provide personalised, flexible learning for students from preschool to Year 12. Our goal is to help students stay connected to their education while in hospital, so that no student is disadvantaged by illness, injury or misadventure.

We deliver a broad range of subjects and learning experiences aligned with curriculum expectations. Whether learning takes place in our vibrant classroom or at a student’s bedside, we are committed to making each experience engaging, inclusive and meaningful.

We feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside the wonderful families in our hospital school community. Bugs, microscopes and iPads. Our mini scientists loved our visit from the Royal National Park Environmental Education Centre to explore the weird and wonderful world of invertebrates!

We’re having a Bush Christmas in the Hospital School Room—and it’s all about sugar gliders! With Santa and the Sugar Glider as our guide, we’re discovering fascinating facts about our furry friends, crafting our very own sugar glider kites and getting competitive with Native Animal Bingo.
