About our school
Sutherland Hospital School is a small, caring school located within the Child and Adolescent Ward at Sutherland Hospital. We support students from pre-school to Year 12, helping them stay connected to learning while they are in hospital. We also support siblings, ensuring their education continues smoothly during what can often be a challenging time for families.
Our focus is on creating a positive, gentle, and flexible learning experience that supports each child’s wellbeing and recovery. Our teachers and health staff work closely together every day to understand each student’s needs and provide learning that feels meaningful, achievable, and reassuring.
We offer:
- The School Room, located on the Child and Adolescent Ward, supporting both students and siblings while they are in the hospital
- Hospital e-Tour, bringing the hospital experience to Stage 1 students in their own classrooms
Music Therapy
Connection, expression, and joy.
Our weekly music sessions give students a creative, uplifting space to build confidence, release stress, and develop emotional wellbeing skills.
Art Therapy
Creativity, colour, and self-expression.
Our weekly hands-on art sessions let students explore their imagination, boost self-esteem, and discover new ways to express and understand their emotions.
